The Death Christ Died by Robert P. Lightner
The Death Christ Died is an excellent polemic setting forth the case for unlimited atonement. Lightner deals with the history, doctrinal arguments, and biblical support for both the limited and unlimited positions. He defends well the moderate (or 4-point) Calvinistic view while showing the error and danger of the Reformed (or 5-point) Calvinistic thesis. This is a solid, thorough, yet understandable study of this important theological issue. Some will find Appendix C interesting, for there Lightner documents John’s MacArthur’s limited atonement leanings by taking quotes from MacArthur’s recently published study Bible.
